Find a Gardener
If you need help mowing the lawn, digging up weeds
and pruning the hedges, then finding a gardener will save you time
and effort. Whether for domestic, small commercial or
communal/shared gardens our members can help with all aspects of
regular maintenance, soft landscaping
and much more.
We know that finding a competent and reliable
gardener is important to you - which is why only career gardeners
with at least one nationally recognised horticultural qualification
are eligible for membership. You can easily find a gardener in
your area by searching the member register.
Genuine members will be listed in the register. If you cannot find
the details of your gardener on the register they are not a member
of The Gardeners Guild.
Members are listed by counties as some of our
members will cover a large area. To find a gardener simply make a
search according to the county you live in.

How much should you expect to pay
your gardener?
Most tradesmen aim to earn a minimum of £100 - £150 a day -
that's £12.5 - £19 per hour. However, this rate will be effected
by the level of danger and regional variations. It will also
exclude the cost of chemicals and removal of cuttings. A
gardener may also have an hourly rate for manual tools and a
higher rate for petrol tools to cover fuel costs. A gardener
will likely have a minimum call out charge, often equivalent to 2 hours labour,
to avoid excessive travel time but may waive this for regular
work. To keep things simple, many gardeners are happy to provide
a written quotation.
Isn't a qualified gardener more
expensive?
No. Most non-qualified gardeners often charge the same as a
qualified gardener so you may as well get what you are already
paying for and hire a qualified gardener.
What makes a good gardener?
Qualities to look for include; qualifications, experience,
tools, insurance, professionalism (uniforms, van logo), a clear
pricing policy, be easy to contact, member of trade
schemes.
Why should
I hire a qualified
gardener?
Having a qualification used to be the minimum standard for any
trade. Qualified gardeners have been assessed to a nationally
recognised standard in their chosen field of horticuture.
